The boss and I took a drive out of Yarmouth, down to Cape Forchu, and up to
Chegoggin Point and Island Pond before returning home. In the pond beside
Olsen's rest home on the Grove Road (Overton), noted a little dark ducky
bird moving in a cootlike way. Binoculars confirmed the identification.
Overcast weather at about 3 P.M. about 100 feet from the road to the east.

At the inlet to the Goose Flats (from Island Pond), a lone late great blue
heron was hanging out, along with a cormorant. Plenty of double-cresteds
still around.

Nothing else outstanding was identified.

Hackmatacks were yellow. Weren't a week ago.
