 .Hi All
It was such a lovey day I spent the afternoon on Graves.
Lots of interesting things.
Dragon flies were plentiful around the pond. The medium sized ones
with maroon tails. They seem late every year.
I saw what I took to be a Yellow-billed Cuchoo. It was the size of
a mourning dove and about the same color. But its bill was curved downward,
was yellow and quite large. The tail was long. I haven't seen these birds
but I think they are present here. It was sitting in a bunch of bushes then dropped
to the ground were it was out of sight.
A large flock of Geese swept overhead making a big racket as they headed south.
There was 100+ in the flock.
Also lots of grebes. Horned all along the shore - 25 to 30. A flock of 10 red necked grebes
was at the end. One was still in partial summer plumage.
Cockawees, Buffleheads, Blacks and Mallards were all there in small numbers.
A great day
Paul
