Four Decades of Adventures by Bernard Forsythe

Though many great scientists and naturalists have been spawned in the Annap=
olis Valley this century, Bernard is one of the most knowledgeable, passion=
ate and highly-respected of these. He has made great contributions to our k=
nowledge of local flora and fauna through long-term involvement in the Mari=
times Nest Records Scheme (he has submitted over 3000 records), Barred Owl =
nest-monitoring programs and orchid and wetlands excursions. His commitment=
to field research is paralleled by his passion for disseminating knowledge=
to others. In 2013, the Canadian Wildlife Federation awarded Bernard the S=
tan Hodgkiss Canadian Outdoorsperson of the Year Award presented to an =93o=
utstanding individual in the field of conservation=94. Bernard has been a m=
ember of the Blomidon Naturalists Society since 1975 (year two!) and in tha=
t time has given many presentations and led many field trips.

In this talk Bernard will reflect on more than four decades as a naturalist=
in Nova Scotia, and what he has seen in that time =96 for better and for w=
orse. His stories of adventure will be told using imagery cast by the warm =
glow of a slide projector.
