yiv7684088209WordSection1 {}-->I just noticed this new eBird tool on eBird =
home page and it is a nice little tool called eBird Targets. I like many as=
pects of birding and I also like adding to many of my lists including photo=
graphed, life, year, month and county. eBird Targets is a great tool for st=
rategizing adding to your lists. =C2=A0For instance I set the location to N=
ova Scotia and I set the months to Nov through to Dec and left the default =
needs option to Nova Scotia life list (you can change it to year and option=
ally specify a county). It produced a list of 89 species not on my eBird li=
fe list which have been reported in NS during Nov =E2=80=93 Dec ordered by =
frequency of checklists which have the species. Please don=E2=80=99t tell a=
nyone that the number one bird I don=E2=80=99t have for this period is Snow=
Bunting at %5.39 of checklists lol. I=E2=80=99m sure it will come this wee=
k! =C2=A0My number 4 will be a bit harder but I still hope to add it this =
year=E2=80=94Pine Warbler. It is in just under 1% of checklists during this=
period. But there is a =E2=80=9Cmap=E2=80=9D link next to each species tha=
t pops up a map showing all the hotspots that have a checklist for the targ=
et species. I clicked on the map link for Pine Warbler and I already found =
one surprise. Apparently I=E2=80=99ll be better off looking for it within c=
entral areas of Halifax/Dartmouth than the remote or coastal sites I usuall=
y favour. =C2=A0Amusingly, so many people entered a checklist for the Tundr=
a Bean Goose that it is telling me it is the 10th most likely species for m=
e to find in Nov =E2=80=93 Dec. =C2=A0http://ebird.org/ebird/targets =C2=A0=
