Hi Eleanor,

Robins hang around a number of areas of the province and survive all winter=
. In fact they survive winters in colder areas than most of Nova Scotia. Ro=
bins are a lot more tough and versatile than many of us give them credit fo=
r. There was a picture taken this winter of a robin standing next to the St=
. Lawrence River near Montreal that had a small perch held tightly in its b=
eak. They can survive quite nicely as long as there is a source of food ava=
ilable to them.

All the best,

Lance

I have been most surprised to see a robin around my feeding area several ti=
mes today; at no time did I see it eat, but it foraged around my feeders wh=
ich are hanging on apple trees amongst presently bare multiflora branches a=
nd it drank several times at my heated birdbath. I happened to have some ra=
ther elderly cranberries and put these out by the birdbath, but so far no s=
igns of their being eaten.

How unusual is this and what are its chances of survival?
