Hi Jim,
I live right near there on Eden Row.=C2=A0 There is a regular Merlin in the=
area this winter (often perched near Elderkin's market), that buzzes my fe=
eders once in a while, but not daily like the sharpies.=C2=A0 There is also=
a Peregrine that has been hunting along the Cornwallis River (looks to be =
a male), so I guess it could have been either.=C2=A0 I have seen up to 2 Pe=
regrines regularly this winter at the facility on the corner of Canard Rd a=
nd Fred Thomas Rd, where all the starlings, crows, and gulls hang out.=C2=
=A0 I assume this is some sort of meat processing plant?=C2=A0=C2=A0

FEB. 19, 2015 - While driving along Hwy. 1 in Greenwich, just south of Nogg=
ins Farm Market, a clearly saw a flying smallish falcon.=C2=A0 It was flyin=
g unlike a merlin, much more like a small (male) peregrine falcon.=C2=A0 I =
had no opportunity to stop or to see any colour =E2=80=94 the bird was just=
a silhouette, but close to the road and to me.=C2=A0 Thus I have to call t=
his a peregrine falcon, but it has to remain as =E2=80=9Cprobable=E2=80=9D.=
=C2=A0 I hope someone else sees and diagnoses this bird.=C2=A0 Noggins Mark=
et farm attracts a lot of birds, esp. starlings and house sparrows, so it=
=E2=80=99s quite likely to be revisited by this falcon.=C2=A0 Our recent Ea=
gles/Raptors Count had 2 merlins but no other falcons, although in recent y=
ears at least one peregrine has been detected several times on that count a=
nd/or on other winter days.
Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
