This afternoon I observed the tame male Wood Duck, previously =
photographed and reported on NatureNS, near the beach at The Dingle =
(a.k.a. Fleming Park) on Halifax=E2=80=99s Northwest Arm.=20
He was persistently pursuing a female Black Duck; on the water, on =
land, and even in the air. He exhibited some unusual tic-like neck =
movements, presumably a part of the mating ritual. Does he have any =
chance of success? Are there any records of Wood Duck/Black Duck =
hybrids?
