Checking on the bird feeders this afternoon in our backyard brought a rather
dismaying surprise. A big BLACK squirrel was calmly sitting on a hanging
sunflower seed feeder scoffing seeds as fast as possible. Not a bird or a
RED squirrel to be seen!

I noted this squirrel was not quite as big as a Grey but definitely much
bigger than our Reds.

A couple of years ago we had a brief visit from very large GREY squirrel,
and are relieved that it has not shown itself again but know it may just be
a matter of time before we may have to deal with this invasive species on a
daily basis.

Cheers,
