Regarding the =93Osprey=94 reported at Hartlen point: There are two =
Rough-legged Hawks hunting routinely over the golf course and marsh =
grass beside the beach. Maybe they could be mistaken for osprey as they =
are quite white under wing. There is also one immature Bald Eagle that =
I have seen several times =96 once when he harassed one of the =
Rough-legged Hawks as he was passing by. The eagle is quite dark though =
so I think the RL Hawks would be easier to ID as Osprey. One other =
possibility - there are were two Northern Harriers in hunting the beach =
but not likely to be confused with Osprey. Haven=92t seen them for a =
week or two though.

Subject: [NatureNS] re Ospreys?? and Eurasian Kestrel
Are you very sure of the ospreys reported? It is probably still too =
early for them to be back, and none have been reported yet. Much more =
likely they were immature bald eagles, especially 3rd or 4th year, which =
often show the facial markings that are similar to ospreys. Please =
respond, and thanks, from Jim in Wolfville.

Hello
I had a great view of the Eurasian Kestrel at Hartlen Point from 3pm =
to=20
4 pm this afternoon -
It hovered over the far end of the golf course several times but I did =
not see it catch anything. It also spent several minutes on a small =
fir=20
tree across the road from the green.
There were also 2 osprey flying back and forth over this end of the=20
course. One osprey came very close to the kestrel but they did not =
seem=20
to be bothered by each other.
