My attitude towards hunting and trapping have evolved over the years. When=
I was younger, I was negatively-inclined towards both of =E2=80=98em.

Now, if these activities don=E2=80=99t have negative effects on species at =
risk, if they are humane, and if the hunting and trapping is done for food =
and/or livelihood, I don=E2=80=99t have a problem with them. They can help=
control populations approaching nuisance levels, spare some beasts death f=
rom starvation, and give more of a chance to species which are objects of f=
easting or competition by more numerous species.

I still don=E2=80=99t get trophy hunting. Think that in some cases, it=E2=
=80=99s a little like Putin telling Bush =E2=80=9CMy dog is bigger than you=
rs.=E2=80=9D I may be guilty of stereotyping there, though.

Well Keith

Family pets shouldn't be where trappers can catch them.

Trappers are definitely helping out the birds if they do find one in a snar=
e.

Enjoy the winter

Predators like Bobcats always produce more young than the range can carry K=
eith.

Every few winters a harsh one will come along and thin out the population. =

Natures way of ensure the survival of the species.

Trappers help Nature out by harvesting the surplus before the harsh weather=
 arrives.

Keeps the population numbers steady over a period of time.

Same with deer and lots of other animals. Mice love it though and

make love in safety all winter!

Enjoy the winter
