Richard Stern & I set out to check his Owl Route on the Mines Road
west of Falmouth. It was plowed as far as West Branch Avon River
bridge and strictly a ski-doo trail W of there. It likely won't be
passable for 3-4 weeks and the owl survey is in doubt this year. On
the way out I spotted a Broad-winged Hawk which we both photographed
from inside the car. I know Richard will add one to our eBird report
and my best one is here:

We carried on to Lunenburg Co. and birded at Graves Island P.P.,
Chester village, Mahone Bay, Maders Cove, Second Peninsula, Garden
Lots and Blue Rocks. We saw modest numbers of late winter ducks:
Long-tailed Duck, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, a light-phase
Rough-legged Hawk, at least nine Great Blue Herons and Tree Swallows.
At the big marsh at Garden Lots there were two Greater Yellowlegs, our
only shorebirds today.
