  <div>
   Hi All
  </div>
  <div>
   Yesterday I took&#160; the canoe and went too Keji for the first paddle of the year.
  </div>
  <div>
   And a great day it was, the wind was light, the water was calm and the temperature was cool.
  </div>
  <div>
   Little showers came and went all day. Not often do we have a day of such light showers.
  </div>
  <div>
   They made splashes in the water but it wasn&#39;t enough to wet me.
  </div>
  <div>
   I paddled up Big Dam Lake and then up Thomas Meadow to the falls at the top of the Stillwater.
  </div>
  <div>
   Every time there was a little break in the clouds and it warmed a bit the flies came out
  </div>
  <div>
   and I caught a trout. The trout were tagged and released back into the water. One trout spit
  </div>
  <div>
   out a Cadis Larva Case as I was tagging it. An interesting construction.
  </div>
  <div>
   The Sweet Gale was in full bloom along the meadow. It was a very pretty reddish brown and I must
  </div>
  <div>
   have been there when it was at its peak because I do not remember it so beautiful.
  </div>
  <div>
   There was a few sparrows along the meadow but hard to id.
  </div>
  <div>
   A&#160;pair of beaver houses that looked like they had recent upgrades - one at each end
  </div>
  <div>
   of the meadow but no beavers in sight. They had started a dam at the bottom of the falls
  </div>
  <div>
   but I think they are a little over ambitious!
  </div>
  <div>
   On the way back a pair of Loons were in the top end of Big Dam. I wasn&#39;t very close. After I passed in
  </div>
  <div>
   the lower end and as I passed Camp 2 a small owl flew up from the bushes along the shore. Just then
  </div>
  <div>
   a pair of Barred Owls started calling. Close by&#160; and a long conversation. Perhaps they were glad to see
  </div>
  <div>
   a canoe. I meet a Norwegian family going to the camp and they told me the Norwegian name for owl
  </div>
  <div>
   was &#34;Uggla&#34;. Spelling??&#160; I didn&#39;t ask for the species name.
  </div>
  <div>
   As I drove out along the Big Dam road a small owl was in the road and flew up into the trees. I would guess
  </div>
  <div>
   both small owls were Saw-whets but couldn&#39;t be sure. They were perhaps getting insects.
  </div>
  <div>
   The Keji staff were as usual very helpful and&#160; friendly. A wonderful park.
  </div>
  <div>
   Get out and enjoy a paddle
  </div>
  <div>
   Paul
  </div>
