We had a very similar experience at the same spot a few years ago, no =
doubt the same grouse. I thought I would take its photograph, but he was =
having none of that. He ran at me and sent us along our way. I never did =
recover my hat or apple!

Enjoyed seeing Richard's video clip posted yesterday. A few years =
ago, while my late husband and I and our Collie dog, were hiking on the =
Hemlock Trail at Keji, we were ambushed by a grouse that came racing out =
of underbrush, leaping at our boots and our dog's face. Then it =
retreated, but skulked along through the underbrush, occasionally racing =
ahead to leap out on the trail to confront us. It put on quite a =
performance!
