Have been wondering the same thing. Here in Dartmouth, in the green belt behind our house, there have been, all winter, 2 -3 female Cardinals, but only one male, there has been no sighting of the females, just the male and some singing by the male but not much. Thinking that the females are on nests but not sure about that.
