Lots of great blues down here in Yarmouth, now.

Subject: [NatureNS] Brier Island Last Week

A few of us spent most of last week on Brier. There were lots of Yellow Wa=
rblers, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Grey Catbirds, American Redstarts and Comm=
on Yellowthroats. There were a couple of Eastern Phoebes and Eastern Wood-=
Pewees as well as some Alder Flycatchers. Highlights would be a Blue-Grey =
Gnatcatcher, White-crowned Sparrow and 3 Eastern Bluebirds. Raptors includ=
ed Turkey Vultures as well as single sightings of Osprey, Broad-winged Hawk=
and Sharp-shinned Hawk. There was a good number of Tree Swallows (a welco=
me sign) and a few Barn Swallows.

Our total species was only 68. Noticeably absent were common birds such as=
Great Blue Heron, Green-winged Teal, any shorebirds, any terns, and Northe=
rn Gannets.

Don
