Thanks to all who have commented on this horrendous proposal. The outrageou=
sly short time for comments is part of the weakening of the EIA process tha=
t has occurred over the past six years.
=20
I had the good fortune to work as Chief Park Naturalist at Cape Breton H=
ighlands NP from 1967-73=2C and Green Cove was such a fine example of the c=
oastal headlands ecosystem that was easily accessible that it was the first=
site selected for a self-guiding trail. The site has had one form or anot=
her of ecological or geologic interpretation here ever since. =20
The memorial is totally inappropriate here and contrary to the primary purp=
ose of National Parks. Please copy your comments to politicians or anyone =
else that you can interest. It is not just the beginning of a slippery slo=
pe for protecting our most valuable natural areas=2C it is well down that s=
lope.
