Dear Sir/ Ms,
In my opinion the war dead would turn in their graves if they knew about th=
is travesty of Canadian values to be supposedly built in their memory. They=
fought =C2=A0to preserve democracy, nature, freedom of expression, a way o=
f life, and natural unspoilt beauty as personified in our national parks. H=
ow dare some tycoon foist his ideas on the rest of in the form of this mons=
trosity of a statue, in a beautiful unspoiled part of our country, and espe=
cially in a national park. Surely we can remember our war dead in our heart=
s, or if there has to be some kind of actual structure, it should be someth=
ing restrained and tasteful. If someone feels they need to build a 3 storey=
high concrete statute with outstretched arms, perhaps they should build it=
in their own back yard instead of a beautiful, ecologically sensitive and =
wild area of our province.
