Bob McDonald and I were in the Sackville (NB) Waterfowl Park on =
Saturday, June 6/15, and we had the great pleasure, partly thanks to Jim =
Goltz, of seeing at close range a pied-billed grebe presumably =
incubating on its nest platform with its mate sitting in the water =
adjacent to her and the nest. Paul=92s comment is right on below, but =
he neglected to say that a disturbed grebe just before leaving the nest =
will cover up the eggs with nest-material, so that the eggs will be =
invisible to whoever or whatever disturbs the adult.
Cheers from Jim in Wolfville =97 I hope somebody got a prize-winning =
photo of that nest with both adults right together.
