<div>
Hi All
</div>
<div>
Today was a perfect day for a paddle. Not too hot and little wind
</div>
<div>
so a friend and I went to Pernettes Lake and paddled and fished til the
</div>
<div>
wind came up after lunch.
</div>
<div>
This is a nice lake - not many cottages and all are back from the water. The
</div>
<div>
lake has a lot of shallow spots - less than 1 meter - and will have a lot of
</div>
<div>
lily pads latter. A few big yellow Bullhead-lilies were in bloom but no white ones yet.
</div>
<div>
The bottom is stoney with a few big stones in places. The water is clear for a Nova Scotia lake
</div>
<div>
and was used at one time for water for the schooners that came to Lahave.
</div>
<div>
When we first went there 40 years ago, DOF stocked the lake with trout but Small Mouth Bass
</div>
<div>
appeared from somewhere so the stocking stopped. Now the fishing for bass is quite
</div>
<div>
good but not spectular but they know how to fight! In the outlet there was a bunch of Blue Backed Herring. Somewhat
</div>
<div>
smaller than alewives but bring a bunch of life to the water.
</div>
<div>
The area around the outlet had a major hatch of dragon flies. The kind with
</div>
<div>
the white tails - They were in mating mood - quite a display. There was a few others about
</div>
<div>
as well as a few damsel flies.
</div>
<div>
The warblers were calling from the sidelines. My ears are not good enough to id them. and
</div>
<div>
an Eagle was flying about.
</div>
<div>
A great day!
</div>
<div>
Enjoy the last few days of spring
</div>
<div>
Paul
