For the past couple of years I have been keeping any eye on a Maple that =
has sprung up in my back yard. Red Maple is the predominant native maple =
on the property, the only Sugar Maples are ones that I have planted and =
none of those have produced seed yet. I was hoping that the sapling =
would turn out to be a Sugar Maple but I am not sure that I can rule out =
the non native Maples that are planted locally as ornamentals. The leaf =
shape is much like that of a Sugar maple but some of the lower leaves =
are very large, up to 10"(25 cm) across. I have included a link to a =
photo taken shortly after leaf-out and would appreciate any help =
confirming the ID.
