Hi all-
Ron Wilson was lucky enough to photograph a Variegated Fritillary two
days ago - the first record of this species for the province, and the
only recent record for the Maritimes. This is a regular migrant to the
prairie provinces, southern Ontario and southern Quebec.
There's more info, including a photo, at the Maritimes Butterfly Atlas
blog
<https://maritimesbutterflyatlas.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/a-new-butterfly-for-nova-scotia/>.
We've also added this species to the Butterflies of Nova Scotia web site
<http://novascotiabutterflies.ca/ss.cgi?s=vafr>.
Congratulations, Ron.
