I have not been able to identify the plant shown on the linked photos:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xmn3l7xbekmf6a0/AADfZtIfMoYfb_hj_BXEGpLHa?dl=0

It grows at Frog Pond, Halifax, in shallow, muddy places.
The stem is anchored to the ground, and when lying flat
on the ground, develops roots from the leaf nodes.
In some places, this plant grows so dense it is the only species
of its height. It reaches a height of maybe up to 5 cm above water,
but persists also on mud where it may be a bit taller.
So far I have not noticed any flowers.

Any help in identifying would be much appreciated.
Burkhard
