Red squirrels are actually one of their main foods.

glimpse of a larger than red squirrel sized animal with a long, black
bushy tail running along a mature hemlock tree branch on my property.
The lot is largely mature spruce, hemlock, and white pine. Located in
Carleton, Yarmouth County, it appears to be within or close to the known
range of Pine Marten in NS. Does anyone know if Pine Martens prey on red
squirrels? I can hear the occasional squirrel in the woods but none are
coming to the feeder.
