Most eBirders know about the monthly eBirder of the Month Challenges in
which eBird issues different checklist challenges every month and then a
nice prize is given to a random eBirder whose checklists meet the criteria
for the month. Zeiss sponsors these challenges and supplies their 8 x 42
Conquest binoculars as the prize.

Last month's challenge was pretty hard-it required 31 Breeding Code:
Flyovers to be entered. But this month's is much easier and it is promoting
a topic dear to my heart (banishing X counts in checklists) so I'm going to
give the challenge a plug. This month's challenge is simply to enter 31
checklists not containing ax X count.

Here is a link explaining the challenge and it is also links to some good
articles on why to avoid X counts, how to count easily and why we don't need
to sweat about the counting when the numbers/environment make accuracy
difficult.
