Chris, is this the "Glen Slaunwhite" trail or the "Great Oak" trail; or are
these the same trail, renamed? Is it around First Lake or Second Lake? You
talk about "Second Lake Provincial Park", but the internet just names
"Sackville Lakes Provincial Park". I am very confused. The trails
association mentions "near-old growth forest". How can I access that?
Clarification would be much appreciated.

Subject: [NatureNS] Sackville Lakes Provincial Park - E-Bird Hotspot

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that there have been improvements to the
Second Lake Provincial Park. This park is in the community of Lower
Sackville which is a suburb of Halifax. Lower Sackville has a population
of 20,000 plus. A large parking area with signage is now on First Lake
Drive. Look for the entrance to the lot between Cobequid Road and the Eddie
Leblanc Memorial field.

I’ve submitted this Provincial Park as a proposed E-bird Hotspot. I think
it qualifies as it passes all the criteria. Large populated area, a large
variety of breeding birds and a lake with plenty of winter bird activity.
I don’t believe we have large numbers of “lists” being entered for this
location yet. However, I’ve seen impressive lists entered in the spring
for this spot and I know people would use the hotspot.
