Well said Dave.

Something I always wonder about is that bio-mass aka wood can be
</div>=20
<div>
burnt to create green electricity whereas garbage must be landfilled.
</div>=20
<div>
A simple fellow like me thinks if burning wood doesn't harm the
</div>=20
<div>
environment how come garbage does?

Enjoy the January thaw

Hi Folks,             =

    The onus is on those who lead a crusade to be sure t=
heir map is correct, to check that they are not holding it upside down and&=
#160; to learn how to read a map. And if regulations are the product o=
f this crusade then those regulations should above all be well founded=
and advisable.
</div>=20
<div>

</div>=20
<div>
    The poor folks at NS Environment, and their war=
ehouses of regulations are a good example; mostly smoke, mirrors and a path=
etic grasp of the environment.
</div>=20
<div>
I may have the story wrong but I think they were involved in the long-d=
rawn out investigation of the association between Mink Fur Farms and the my=
sterious blooms of N-fixing algae. That phrase alone--"
<span style=3D"color: #ff0000;">blooms of N-fixing algae</span>" is=
enough to turn on that blinking lamp that says phosphorus. The last I hear=
d, the 19th century news that phosphate moves poorly in mineral soils had s=
till not been digested.
</div>=20
<div>

</div>=20
<div>
    Picking up Doggy-do is reasonable in some locat=
ions; say at a public picnic table. But bagging it plastic for landfill=
0;disposal is wrong on two counts; nutrients should be recycled not isolate=
d and eventually everything leaks. That modern and very expensive prid=
e of waste disposal, the lined and capped landfill is a ticking time b=
omb that will yield grief to some future generation. And this sort of thing=
happens largely because the votes of 11 ignorant people carry more weight =
than the votes of 10 who are informed.
</div>=20
<div>

</div>=20
<div>
    Made in NS Biosolids apparently stink and consequent=
ly come with much regulatory baggage. Do it right, using the Beltsville pro=
cess developed about 1975, and there is no stink or need for regulation. Pr=
ovided somebody does not start using it as a base for canned iced tea.
</div>=20
<div>

</div>=20
<div>
    We recently spent about $500 million in the Sydney T=
ar Ponds to encapsulate what amounts to roofing tar; all so our glorious le=
aders could demonstrate beyond doubt that they "took the problem seriou=
sly" and to carefully follow the applicable regulations.
