Dear All, Feb 7, 2016
In looking at the Nova Scotia Atlas 5th ed. 2001 I was reminded that
they misplaced the Indian Rising. It is the nose to the north of the one
indicated.
In the early 50s there used to be, except for the first 1/4 mile beyond
the road end, a fair path to the base of the Indian Rising and an obvious
path up to the barrens. By the late 50's this path up the Clyburn was mostly
grown in. I see a dotted line about 2/3 up so this path may have been
cleared part way.
In any case for those who have the time and good legs the hike in to Two
Island Lake is interesting.
I understand one of the first Wardens used to walk from Ingonish to
Cheticamp and back each winter; bragging rights I suppose.
Yt, Dave Webster
