   Well Donna I should have but wasn&#39;t familiar with the migration.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   But our yard is a favorite with Salamanders. Late in the summers there
  </div>=20
  <div>
   will be dozens - under everything in the yard - there will be a few. If
  </div>=20
  <div>
   it comes another warm evening I&#39;ll go look.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   They remind me of fresh water snails. Little known in Nova Scotia
  </div>=20
  <div>
   but one lake I go to often has an almost neutral pH - probably sits
  </div>=20
  <div>
   on an outcrop of Windsor soil group. Anyway once I was fishing there abo=
ut
  </div>=20
  <div>
   this time of the year as the water warms
  </div>=20
  <div>
   and caught some trout that felt crunchy. I took a couple home to set why
  </div>=20
  <div>
   and when I cleaned them, I found them full of snails. I phoned a friend =
who
  </div>=20
  <div>
   is somewhat of an expert on such things. He was susprised but said what =
fly were
  </div>=20
  <div>
   you using. A little black # 16 job with a black hackle. That&#39;s the r=
ight fly he said and
  </div>=20
  <div>
   he just had a call from a friend in Tasmania who had the same experience=
. Same fly.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   He said the snails overwinter in deep water and when the water warms the=
y rise in
  </div>=20
  <div>
   the water column and float to shore where they spend the summer in the s=
hallow water.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   Of course in Tasmania the water was getting cold and they were migrating=
 to deep water.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   It all got written up in a book.
  </div>=20
  <div>
   A lot of stuff goes on!
  </div>=20
  <div>
   Enjoy early April!
