Unusual for us, two pairs of starlings have taken up pretty much permanent
residence in the yard. One pair definitely permanent since they are
building a nest in the eave of my garage but I don't have the heart to evict them.
We have hordes of Gold and purple finches and I never cease to be amazed
at the colour transformation over the last few weeks. The purple finches are
somewhat brighter but the transformation of the goldfinches is amazing
from rather dull a few weeks ago to brilliant yellow today. Also more Juncos
this year then usual.
