hi folks,
In case you got the eBird alert and were sprinting to see this sparrow in
NS, the checklist has been adjusted -
The only Black-throated Sparrow observed to date is at Brown Road,
Beaubassin Research Station, NB:

Here's the original alert for NB from John Klymko:

"Nicole MacDonald discovered a Black-throated Sparrow at theBeaubassin
Research Station this evening at about 7PM. The bird was seen wellby
Nicole, myself, and several staff at the station until about 830PM.
Severaldiagnostic photos have been taken. It looked to be in good health
and wasconstantly foraging.

The sparrow was seen foraging around the foundation of theBeaubassin
Research Station building and around and even under the vehicles ofthe
station staff.

As far as I=E2=80=99m aware this is the first record for theMaritimes!

The Beaubassin Research Station is located just east ofAulac. From the
Irving Big Stop take Aulac Road east, then turn right ontoBrown Road (this
is the only way you can turn once you drive down in themarsh). The research
station is the white house just across the train tracks.Google directions
can be seen here: https://goo.gl/maps/5w5nfiHpq6S2.Staff at the station did
not think it would be an issue if birders came to lookfor the bird, but
please be respectful of staff and make sure they have accessto their
vehicles.

Cheers,

John

PS: I=E2=80=99ve posted Nicole's photos of the bird at
