Hi Rick:
I expect most birders have a MIA bird in the spring. For me this spring it =
is the White-throated Sparrow. I didn't hear/see any on the Migratory Count=
so the other day I made a special effort on the South Mountain & heard one=
!. Yet hundreds have been reported in transit in NB along the Fundy coast.
Like other reports we have two pairs of Chippies nesting in our area.
Cheers=2C Angus

Subject: [NatureNS] Chipping Sparrow as a Rare Species ?
To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca
I always thought of Chipping Sparrow as a common species. Perhaps I just wa=
sn't paying attention=2C and always saw some without effort. Not this year.=
I haven't seen one yet. I see in the just-released BBA that they are "rare=
" in Western NS but I believe there is lots of good habitat in Kings Co.
A total of seven birds have been reported in Kings Co. on eBird since May 1=
5th:

Many "good" species are far more common than this.
