=E2=80=9CGood luck with that,=E2=80=9D for sure.

It probably isn=E2=80=99t realistic even to think about eradicating pickere=
l, but I=E2=80=99ll strongly encourage all of us to strongly encourage ever=
y angler in the province to kill every pickerel caught.

They are, by the way, very good eating. Watch for bones. The Vietnamese g=
ang down here gets that very well.

Thirty-five to forty years ago, when they had newly arrived in Canada, a lo=
t of us =E2=80=9Cold stockers=E2=80=9D noticed some of the newcomers foragi=
ng for mussels along the shore and shook our heads. They knew what they we=
re doing, though, and still do!

Subject: [NatureNS] The Lahave

Hi All

This was our first evening bass fishing on the Lahave this year.

First let me say contrary to rumours the Mosquito clan is in fine form

and ready to attack at a moments notice.

The Pickerel population is doing very well also. a few years ago to catch

a pickerel on the river was a talked about event. Then last year we saw a f=
ew more

but tonight my friend who was doing the fishing lost 5 flies to Pickerel.

He was using Bass leaders and while he caught some bass the pickerel

snapped of his flies quick time. Next time he will be prepared.

As we left we watched from a bridge which overlooks a cove. A pickerel

was swimming around the cove grabbing what it could. A very interesting dis=
play.

I hear some talk of restoring the salmon in the river. Good luck with that.=

Have a nice summer

Paul
