It is chlorophyll, synthesized by cells and mounted in chloroplasts inside those cells.Chlorophyll collects light, i.e. energy that is then stored in the form of glucose.
Glucose produced during photosynthesis can be transported between cells and stored in the form of starch as chemical energy depot.
Energy that is required to allow the acorn to germinate and have access to energy before the seedling forms its own leaves and is able to photosynthesize.

Hi,

What is the source of green in acorns? I see even the cupule is
greenish. Is it chlorophyll? If so, what is the chlorophyll producing?

Thanks
