A bio blitz at this time of year won't give levels of diversity or rarity that occur in spring and summer. It is usual that Department natural resources mandates such a spring and summer dual assessments. A bio blitz now would undervalue the site. Has DNR Wildlife been approached to order that complete surveys be conducted? If you are a freshwater/ tree/flora fauna biologist, species expert, naturalist and want to help, please get in touch! If you are a non-expert interested to participate, learn identification skills, and help a community build science data in the face of big development, please get in touch! We=E2=80=99ve chosen this site because the environmental assessment for the Alton Gas project didn=E2=80=99t include adequate information about the ecology and species of the area that could be impacted, so we=E2=80=99re supporting the community to collect independent data and build a more complete understanding of this ecosystem that would be disrupted.
