It would be interesting to have a separate dreamed birds list. Though it wo=
uld be difficult to get them to a species at times!

I know what you're thinking-no way not in this mess! Only one was observed =
today and that as in the banana belt where they got little or no snow. I sa=
w on the Cape Sable web cam that there was not even a hint of a snow flake =
to be found. What a lousy Christmas they're going to have!
The new ones are:
* American Woodcock, reported today by Paul Gould at Bell Neck, Yarmo=
uth County
* Blue Grosbeak , this one was reported by Clyde Stoddard last week b=
ut at the time it was not obvious it was seen by Clyde himself. It slipped =
my mind to follow up on this and I found out last night that Clyde did see =
this bird himself
* Short-eared Owl, Ian Manning let me know that Mike Gemmell spotted=
one on the Kingston Rail Trail on Dec 10
Here are some notables missing from the WBL so far:
Missing species we have listed 19 or 20 times out of the last 20 years
* Northern Shrike
* White-crowned Sparrow
* Common Redpoll
* Eurasian Wigeon
* Ruddy Duck
* Brant
* Atlantic Puffin
* Snowy Owl
* Northern Saw-whet Owl
* Eastern Meadowlark (last winter was our first miss on this in 20 ye=
ars)
Missing species we have listed 16 - 18 times out of the last 20 years
* Lincoln Sparrow
* Long-eared Owl (previously every year but MIA in 2 of the last 3 ye=
ars)
Other notables missing so far
* Snow Goose (13 year streak)
* Redhead (12 of the last 14 years)
* King Eider (previously fairly regular but MIA in the last 3 winters=
)
* American Bittern (last 9 out of 11 years)
* White-rumped Sandpiper (previously near certain but only every 2 or=
3 years in the last decade)
* Gyrfalcon (10 out of the last 12 but missed 2 of the last 4)
* Carolina Wren (8 of the last 10 and has made the DoWL in 7 of those=
years) DoWL =3D Depth of Winter List-Observed in February
* Varied Thrush (8 of the last 9 years)
* Black-and-White Warbler (8 of the last 10 but missed 2 of the last =
3 years)
* Yellow-throated Warbler (10 of the last 13 years)
* Hoary Redpoll (7 out of last 11 years)
* Field Sparrow (13 out of the last 15 years)
