I arrived at Sandy Cove at 8:45 this morning, where it was sunny and cool. I sat down and watched for awhile before others came. The Prothonotary Warbler emerged from a dense clump of spruce trees close to the beach about twenty minutes later. It initially perched on a low branch, basking in the sun. Soon after it came down to feed on the flies in the kelp. There were a number of Song Sparrows and Robins there feeding as well.

By the time I left at 9:30, eight other people had arrived and were enjoying the sight of this lovely bird.
