No efforts have been made to get the Gannets to recolonize Gannet Rock sinc=
e Ted finished his project. It is too bad that it didn't work. There has be=
en an adult Northern Gannet on nearby Green Island (my favourite place in a=
ll of Yarmouth County!) for the last few summers. We are hoping they will t=
ry to nest there.

Green Island has breeding Razorbills, Atlantic Puffins, Black Guillemots, S=
avannah Sparrows, Double-crested Cormorants, Spotted Sandpipers, Common Eid=
er, gulls... Check out my eBird Checklist below with photos from June 2016.=
We haven't confirmed breeding of Common Murre yet, but I hope to check a f=
ew times this summer.

Thanks for sharing both stories! Keith and Alix!

Very interesting Alix. Any updates from Gannet Rock these days? I'm curious=
to know the name of the rocks just north of Gannet Rock, does anything nes=
t there??

Thanks for this, Keith.

A social attraction project was also used to try to get the Northern Gannet=
s to nest on Gannet Rock, Yarmouth County back in the 1990s and early 2000s=
. If anyone is interested, here is the link to Ted's website detailing the =

Here is a great, short video primarily about Atlantic Puffins and terns and=
how the Autobahn Society re-established puffin and tern colonies on an isl=
and off Maine after they were killed off and absent for a hundred years. It=
makes wonder if we could use decoys and recordings to encourage Roseate Te=
rn to breed in more places here.
