This morning lots of song on this trail. The Dawn Chorus must have been imp=
ressive. There were 16 warbler species, most notable Cape May; B/H & R/E vi=
reos, a number of Brown Creepers in one area, Least Flycatchers common in t=
wo separate sites. At a birders' pace, the shorter trail takes about 1 3/4=
hours which includes returning to the parking lot (behind Evergreen Nursin=
g Home) on the RR bed. In other years I have recorded 18-20 Ovenbirds along=
this route & although I did not count them, the numbers were comparable. I=
missed N. Waterthrush & Canada W. but it's possible to find them on the lo=
nger trail which adds 45 min. to the walk. (Find C/S Warbler & Magnolias ne=
ar start of trail). I did not hear any thrushes although I heard Veery call=
ing elsewhere.

Mosquitoes were plentiful but thankfully most or all males as they were not=
biting. I picked up one tick although I don't recall straying off the path=
.
