The Monarchs won't be here in N.s. until July but monarchwatch.org just published the list of tags found this year from last Fall's migration south. We tagged 50 of our Monarchs last year and were eager to see if any made it to Mexico last winter.

Alas, none of our tags from 2016 were on the list. but a look for earlier tag numbers from 2015 showed that another of our Monarchs made it to Mexico.

Tags are collected by local residents and they are not always turned in during the year that they are found. The Monarch Watch representative do not always get to see all of those that have tags each year. In any event, one of our 2015 tags was turned in on Feb 24, 2017 from the El Rosario Butterfly Preserve. So at least two Monarch from the Valley made it to Mexico in 2015.

Smiles
Larry
