Hi All,

There was a massive exodus of birds from the province at Cape Forchu,
Yarmouth County, during the period extending from the night of 15 September
to the morning of 22 September. Nearly 10,000 night flight calls were
recorded flying over a small space of sky during this time. Details can be
found here: http://johnfkearney.com/Cape_Forchu_Yarmouth_County_2017.html.

In contrast, nocturnal migration was down at Carleton, Yarmouth County, this
week. This is likely due to the exodus of birds seen at Cape Forchu as
inland birds headed to the coast for longer, overwater, flights. Detail for
this site are at:
http://www.johnfkearney.com/Carleton_Yarmouth_County_2017.html.

Rare or less common birds for the week, included Vesper Sparrow, Scarlet
Tanagers, Dickcissels, Prairie Warblers, Orange-crowned Warblers, Pine
Warblers, Gray-cheeked Thrushes, Stilt Sandpiper, and Upland Sandpiper.

John
