I'm having the same problem with feeding the catbird in my yard - the grapes, soaked raisins, and grape jelly that I put out are all devoured quickly by the starlings. The catbird is lurking in a multiflora rose tangle, and spends time foraging on the ground in that tangle. So I'm throwing some sunflower seed chips on the ground there, just a Tbsp. at a time, and also harvesting multiflora rose hips elsewhere and tying on a small branch of them each morning in the tangle - the hips in my yard were all cleaned out by the starlings a few weeks ago. I'm also going to try hanging a suet feeder in that tangle.
cheers,
Susann Myers
