Hi John and all:

We had a little freezing rain, but not a lot. There were very few fox spar=
rows being seen until now. I'm guessing that the last snow storm that we h=
ad was the cause. With the influx of juncos, the fox sparrows also appeare=
d as did a lot of song and white-throated sparrows. Sparrows in this neck =
of the woods for a three week period were hard to even come by. This is wh=
y I think there might have been a move in migration from somewhere.

Sincerely,

James R. Hirtle

LaHave

Hi James,

Did you get much freezing rain there last week? A good coating of ice might=
have driven these birds from natural habitats to feeders.

John

Hi all:

Besides the arrival of tons of dark-eyed juncos, fox sparrows also seem to =
have arrived. Marjorie & Gerald Zwicker of Auburndale have one and they se=
nt me a photo. I've had other reports as well and I had one show up at my =
feeders today. I've got long distance photos for the record.
