I was surprised to find a banded mallard on February 23, 2018 at Woodlawn G=
ardens in Bridgewater. I worked to get photos so that I could piece the ban=
d number together to find out where it originated from. The band was 2107-9=
6950. The sex of the mallard is a male hatched in 2015 or earlier. It was b=
anded on August 16, 2016 by H W Heusmann of the Massachusetts Division of F=
ish & Wildlife near North Plymouth, Plymouth County in Massachusetts, USA. =
I found a second banded mallard also a male at Shipyard's Landing on Februa=
ry 25, 2018. This one has a band of 2087-87547 and was hatched in 2016. It =
was banded on February 6, 2017 near Windsor, NS. The bander was Bruce Polla=
rd of the Canadian Wildlife Service out of Sackville, NB.
