Interesting: Notwithstanding the warmish weather, I haven=E2=80=99t =
seen any =E2=80=9Csnow gnats=E2=80=9D yet. Not sure if I am the problem =
or something else is going on!

On the SFA table I am mainly noting the first confirmed sightings. It is =
interesting to see how early the overshoots have been- can=E2=80=99t =
wait to track the Warblers. I believe all the sightings like =
Ken=E2=80=99s below are recorded by being posted here or being listed in =
his eBird checklist (the best way) in the ongoing Spring Arrivals =
database explained on the table page. Ultimately that is the important =
spreadsheet where all species are being tracked, those that overwinter =
and others - the compilation of observations of the G Egret numbers, =
locations and length of stay. It is hard to figure out exactly how many =
we have in NS at the moment- they move around, get double counted etc =
but it must be somewhere b/t 7-10. Wonder when we will see our first =
breeding Great Egret in NS?

Hello Nancy,

This and the other egrets found more recently in NS are likely carried =
here from the Middle Atlantic States by the massive movements of air =
associated with storms. Most of the 12-15 in NS, Newfoundland, and St. =
Pierre seem to have been carried here by a major air movement from North =
Carolina out into the Atlantic looping back here last Friday and =
Saturday. I don't know whether you are counting these as first migrants =
or not, but there are likely more out there, if we could scour all the =
likely spots.

(Not sure if this will work if you are not on FB though.)

An exceptional find in any case. So far, 2018 NS overshooting Waders =
have been very early compared to the past four years =
