We added 1 new species to bring us to 192 and it was a great one to get bec=
ause Killdeer is the last of our missing core species. Last week we had thr=
ee species at risk of breaking a their 22+ year streak but now we are down =
to just the Eastern Towhee in that regard.
Killdeer =96 Neil Leblanc (Walton) =96 Big Tusket Island
I certainly feel there is enough interest in the Winter Bird List to keep i=
t going. But I want to poll you all about the DOWL (February sightings). It=
doesn=92t take much effort beyond the WBL to keep it going so I wouldn=92t=
mind continuing it as a subset of the WBL if there is enough interest in i=
t. As far as I know we are the only ones that still tracks the DOWL and the=
re is way less feedback about it so I=92m not sure the interest is there. P=
lease let me know if you do like following the DOWL as well and I=92ll keep=
it going too.
Some other notable misses so far
Eastern Towhee =96 Was not categorized as a core species in Blake=92s sprea=
dsheet but it has the same 22+ year streak on the line.
Eastern Meadowlark =96 Had a 19 year streak until we missed 3 of the last 4
Redhead =96 14 of 16
