Hi Paul,

That=E2=80=99s a very interesting story. I am wondering if your owl was =
a Long-eared Owl which is more likely to be in a grove of pine trees. =
The bark of the Long-eared Owl also sounds much more like a dog than a =
Short-eared Owl.=20

Hi All=20

Last evening on the river doing a little fishing, a Short-eared Owl=20

started barking in a grove of pine trees beside the water.=20

At first it sounds like a little dog but when you listen closely=20

it is different. Hard to describe but not many dogs bark 15=20

meters up a pine tree.=20

A Great Blue Heron came in for a landing. It wanted where I was =
standing.=20

Very impressive a Heron coming towards you with all the brakes on.=20

When it got 10 m or so away it decided another spot 20 m away would=20

do as well and turned just in time.=20

A flock of ducks went over very high followed by 2 geese half the height =
-=20

they were having a good chat. Sounds nice against the background of =
running=20

water. =20

There is a lot of flowers beside the stream just now. Asters, Pipewort=20

Boneset, Turtleheads and a nice bed of Ladies'- tresses. The Pickerel =
Weed=20

is finished for this year and is producing seeds. It would be=20

hard to grow such a nice garden.=20

This years models of Gaspereau seem to have exited the river. None=20

were visible at any rate. They have a season.=20

Enjoy the last of summer=20
