Hi All,

Mark Dennis will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Southwest
Chapter of the Nova Scotia Bird Society on November 26 at 7:00 PM at the
Yarmouth County Museum. In his talk entitled, "Gulls: A Peek behind the Fish
Plants," he will describe the life of gulls, from what is known in the
fossil record to how humans have changed their distribution and abundance in
Nova Scotia. Mr. Dennis will discuss gull species and subspecies, their
habits, and endearing qualities. His photographs will focus on the gulls of
Nova Scotia with reference to gulls of interest elsewhere.

Mark Dennis honed his gull identification skills back in the 1980s, standing
in sub-zero temperatures at gull roosts in Nottingham, England. Watching the
15,000 gulls that roosted in old gravel pits, these birding efforts
contributed to solving a number of gull identification mysteries.

The talk is open to the public, admission is free, and light refreshments
will be served.
