Hi Pat & All,
Looking back into the distant past I associate the first fireflies
sighted with the first warm evenings when one could park near some
secluded shrubbery and in comfort, neck etc. etc. in a car. The several
I collected in later years were mid to late June.
The combination of warmth with calm air really gets insects of all
stripes moving. A few days ago (June 3 ?) the yard was swarming with
insects.
