Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus)

The Brown Shrike is a common winter visitor to lightly wooded country. Slightly rufous brown above and creamy below, it has a broad black band through the eye, and a white stripe above it and on the forehead. Young birds show some fine crescentic barring. The call is a harsh scolding chatter.
