Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus)

Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus)

A common winter visitor, except to Pakistan and north-west India. Rather shy, it has a raucus chattering note and, like other shrikes, impales its small animal or insect prey on thorns. Often found in thickly forested country, especially in the hills, where it haunts tracksides, glades and clearings.
